ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will exercise good judgment, design and maintain effective systems for managing projects, communicate with clarity both orally and in writing, use technology effectively, and balance multiple priorities. They should be adaptable, proactive, personable, and warm.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a 12-month position; additional hours may be required in the evenings. Hours during the school year are 10 am-6 pm; during the summer, hours are 8 am-4 pm or 10 am-6 pm (to be switched off with the other office staff who will stay late).
During the school year, there are two hybrid days per week. These days are work-from-home half days, and you are expected to report to campus at 1:00 pm for the after school portion of the day.
SUMMER CAMP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in marketing the Rodeph Sholom School Day Camp to internal and external families;
- Maintain systems to execute daily operations of the camp;
- Assist in summer camp daily activities;
- Serve as a point of contact for summer camp internal and external families;
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with staff, families, and vendors to ensure smooth operations;
- Communicate with the Operations Coordinator in the synagogue regarding shared spaces;
- Manage the requirements for the camp’s permits with the Department of Health;
- Collaborate with the business office to assist with invoices and expenses.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain systems to execute daily operations of the After School Programs;
- Communicate regularly with parents to best support their needs and their children’s needs;
- Serve as a point of contact for after school families;
- Check in and out students at either campus;
- Assist in any needs that might arise during after school enrichment activities;
- Communicate with vendors to ensure a smooth operation;
- Collaborate with the business office to assist with invoices and expenses.

Communications and Operations Coordinator

You possess a unique blend of administrative expertise and a sharp eye for detail, with the ability to provide high-level copy-editing and communications support while maintaining a warm, professional presence for our community.
WORK SCHEDULE
Working hours are generally 7:45 am to 3:45 pm; additional hours may be required in the evenings. You will be asked to attend some faculty/staff meetings on Thursdays from 3:45 pm until 5:00 pm. This position is a 12-month administrative staff position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Lobby Management:
- Serve as the primary receptionist in the 79th St. lobby, maintaining a warm, welcoming, and helpful presence for all students, families, and visitors.
- Maintain a professional appearance suitable for a front-facing position in an independent school environment.
- Exercise a high level of discretion and confidentiality regarding all student, family, and school-related information.
- Manage Middle School student attendance each morning.
- Create name tags and other materials as needed for school events (e.g., back-to-school teacher week).
- Support bus dismissal logistics on an as-needed basis.
- Coordinate the delivery of student belongings and ensure messages are passed to the appropriate parties.
- Maintain the physical appearance of the lobby, bulletin boards, coffee station, and bathrooms, liaising with the Facilities team as needed.
- Coordinate security drills with Security, Facilities, Executive Assistants, and Chief of Staff and Operations.
- Oversee the proper implementation of onsite events in coordination with the Chief of Staff and Operations, Executive Assistants, Building Manager, Food Service, Communications, Enrollment, and/or Development as needed (e.g., Graduation, All School Shabbats, Alumni Events).
- Oversee Title I, IIA, IV, and other Federal and State funding grants.
Communications & Media
- Lead the production, editing, and distribution of school-wide email communications, including the weekly “This Week” newsletter.
- Regularly create and post mission-driven stories and content on social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram).
- Manage and update the digital display screens (OptiSigns) weekly in the 79th St. and 84th St. lobbies.
- Manage the SmugMug photo library, ensuring galleries are built before the start of each school year and providing teachers with secure upload information.
- Capture event photos/videos and maintain the SmugMug asset database (culling, editing, and organizing albums).
- Maintain brand standards across all visual designs for social media and print communications.
- Update and maintain the School Portal and calendar; coordinate and document communications using shared spreadsheets.
- Assist the Parents Association with collecting or creating materials and their events (e.g., graduation slideshow, skate night displays, staff appreciation, cocktail parties).
- Support the Director of Communications & Marketing by performing additional communications duties, including, but not limited to, ordering promotional materials and supplies, assisting with video shoots, and updating the website.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Meticulous attention to detail in copy-editing.
- Strong writer with excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Canva, and/or Creative Cloud preferred.
- Familiarity with Student Information Systems (Blackbaud SIS) is preferred.
- Graphic design, photography, and video editing experience preferred.

Early Childhood Division Associate/Floater Teacher (Twos-K)

WORK SCHEDULE
Working hours are generally 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, for reduced-time and 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, for part-time; occasional hours may be required in the evenings. Teachers are expected to attend faculty meetings on Thursdays from 3:45 pm until 5:00 pm.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Early Childhood Associate Teachers and Floater Teachers are responsible for working with the Head Teacher in overseeing the experiences of students in their classroom. While there are broad guidelines for curriculum, given the ages and developmental levels of the students, teachers are given significant latitude to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of their particular students.
The duties of an Associate Classroom teacher/Floater Teacher include:
- Supporting the Head Teacher in managing all aspects of classroom life, including curriculum planning, group times, weekly newsletters, report writing, and parent conferences.
- Interacting with children in all areas of the classroom, including the rug area, block area, pretend, and art projects.
- Supervising and interacting with students during outdoor and indoor gross motor play times.
- Doing whatever is necessary to help students feel safe and supported in the school environment, including accompanying children to the bathroom, changing diapers if necessary, and comforting and holding upset children,
- Arriving on time to set up the classroom and staying after the school day to clean the classroom and work on planning for the next day.
- Working with the rest of the grade level team to share ideas and resources to promote consistency within the program.
- Participating in all aspects of school life, including attending team and staff meetings and community events.

- Salary range: $32,000-$35,000 (prorated for part-time); Salary offers are based on our salary scale steps, which are based on years of experience and are non-negotiable due to pay equity practices. *Base faculty salaries do not reflect additional compensation based on degree level and stipends.
