Elementary and Middle School Music and Song Leader (Paternity Leave-Replacement)

Supervisor: Rebecca Hammerman, Head of Elementary Division/ Sally Meisner, Head of Middle School
Schedule:  Full-time (Leave-Replacement)

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching elementary tefillah and Kabbalat Shabbat and middle school music, and have successful experience working with elementary and middle school-aged children and their families. They should be adaptable, collaborative, proactive, personable, and warm.

WORK SCHEDULE

Working hours are generally 7:40 AM  to 3:45 PM; additional hours may be required in the evenings. Teachers are expected to attend faculty meetings on Thursdays from 3:45 PM until 5:00 PM. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Teach music to middle school students
  • Lead tefillah and weekly shabbat for elementary and middle school students
  • Work collaboratively with Romance Language department members, and Chair, and other teaching teams on initiatives around pedagogy and curriculum 
  • Additional responsibilities, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enjoys working with elementary and middle school-aged children, working closely with colleagues, and being involved in other aspects of school life
  • Shows an appreciation for the craft of teaching, along with a passion for and knowledge of elementary and middle school music and prayer
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Kind and possesses a healthy sense of humor
  • Supports the mission, vision, values, and commitments as outlined on our “About” website page
  • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to take initiative and follow through on projects
  • Possesses good judgment
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience

SALARY & BENEFITS 

  • Salary range: Prorated salary based on an annual salary range of $60,000-$90,000; commensurate with experience. *Base faculty salaries do not reflect additional compensation based on degree level and stipends.
  • Generous paid time off (e.g., sick and personal days, holidays).

Middle School Romance Language (Spanish) Teacher (Leave-Replacement)

Early Childhood Division Associate Teacher (Twos-K)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Early Childhood Associate Teachers are responsible for working with the Head Teacher in overseeing the experiences of students in their classroom. While there are broad guidelines for the curriculum, given the ages and developmental levels of the students, teachers are given significant latitude to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of their particular students. 

The duties of an Associate Classroom teacher include:

  • Supporting the Head Teacher in managing all aspects of classroom life, including curriculum planning, group times, weekly newsletters, report writing and parent conferences.
  • Interacting with children in all areas of the classroom, including the rug area, block area, pretend, and art projects.
  • Supervising and interacting with students during outdoor and indoor gross motor play times.
  • Doing whatever is necessary to help students feel safe and supported in the school environment, including accompanying children to the bathroom, changing diapers if necessary, and comforting and holding upset children, 
  • Arriving on time to set up the classroom and staying after the school day to clean the classroom and work on planning for the next day.
  • Working with the rest of the grade level team to share ideas and resources to promote consistency within the program.
  • Participating in all aspects of school life, including attending team and staff meetings and community events.

SALARY & BENEFITS 

  • Salary range: $44,000-$50,000; Salary offers are based on our salary scale steps, which are based on years of experience and are non-negotiable due to pay equity practices. *Base faculty salaries do not reflect additional compensation based on degree level and stipends.
