Rodeph Sholom School
Annual Report 2023–2024

Letter from the Vice Chair, Board of Directors

Dear Rodeph Sholom School Community,

The 2023-2024 Annual Report recognizes a tremendous outpouring of support for our beloved school community. Once again, over 90% of our current families contributed to the Annual Fund. Meanwhile our growing donor community of alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, and friends joined in supporting the Annual Fund as well as special events and philanthropic initiatives to mark Rodeph Sholom School’s 54th Anniversary.

Last year’s triple chai birthday celebration was a true highlight, especially in a year that presented many challenges. It was an inspiring and joyful occasion that captured the ruach (spirit) of our community—a spirit grounded in our Jewish values of community, resilience, and connection. The event was a powerful reminder of the strength we find in one another and the importance of coming together to celebrate both our heritage and the future we are building together.

This year is particularly exciting at Rodeph Sholom School, as we welcomed the largest group of students since before the pandemic, including a large cohort from Schechter Manhattan. With this growth comes a renewed sense of energy and vitality that fills our hallways. The successful and popular launch of the Makor Jewish Studies program marks an important step in expanding our Jewish learning offerings. Other elements of our curriculum continue to grow as well, with the addition of a dedicated STEAM teacher, preparing our students for high school and future professions.

As a mother of two thriving alumni, I am filled with deep gratitude for the transformative education my children received at Rodeph Sholom School. The foundation they built here went far beyond academics, providing them with a profound understanding of their Jewish identity, heritage, and values. The school not only prepared them intellectually but also spiritually, instilling in them a deep connection to our traditions, a sense of responsibility to our community, and a commitment to tikkun olam (repairing the world). As they continue on their paths, they carry these principles with them—confident and ready to face life’s challenges while proudly embracing their Jewish roots in a world that often presents obstacles to our community. I am equally committed to ensuring that my youngest child–now in 3rd Grade–continues to grow in this rich and nurturing environment.

In today’s society, the need for increased security measures has become more pronounced, particularly in our schools. The safety of our children and community is paramount, and the costs associated with implementing these essential security measures can be significant. From enhanced surveillance systems to trained security personnel, these investments are crucial in providing a safe learning environment for our students. Your support helps us cover these increased costs and ensures that our children can learn and grow in a secure setting.

My family is proud to be counted alongside so many of you in the 2023-2024 Annual Report. Today, we invite you to join our own ongoing commitment by increasing your support of the Annual Fund this year. Let us be role models of collective responsibility for our children so they can continue to benefit from a rigorous, high quality education that fosters purposeful leadership grounded in Jewish tradition and pride.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication to our school, our community, and our shared values.

Sincerely,
