Jonathan Stern

Dr. Jonathan Stern has served as the 4th-8th Grade psychologist at Rodeph Sholom School since 2002. He provides counsel to students, parents, and teachers; co-teaches the Middle School Health and Wellness Program; regularly gives talks and workshops on issues facing students and their parents; organizes the Middle School Social-Emotional Learning Program; and coordinates therapy referrals for students in need. Dr. Stern grew up on the Upper West Side and graduated from a Manhattan independent school before earning his doctorate in clinical psychology. When not at Rodeph Sholom School, he maintains a long-standing private practice in both Manhattan and Connecticut, where he conducts psychotherapy and performs neuropsychological evaluations, and he serves as an adjunct associate professor at Long Island University’s Mental Health Counseling master’s program. Dr. Stern is the proud husband of children’s author Sandra Waugh and the proud father of two young adult sons—one who works in education policy and the other as a musician—and of two rescue dogs, Winston and Clementine, both of whom are currently unemployed.
