Elana joined Rodeph Sholom School in 2021, bringing over 30 years of teaching experience in early childhood through elementary school with a focus on Hebrew and Jewish studies. Born in the United States and raised in Israel from age 10, she served in the Israeli Army and graduated from Hebrew University with a Bachelor of Arts in Jewish Art History and Jewish History. Her advanced training includes a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from City College and a Master of Arts in Hebrew instruction from Middlebury College. This unique combination of lived Israeli experience, military service, and specialized academic training in Jewish history and Hebrew instruction allows her to bring an authentic cultural perspective and deep subject matter expertise to her teaching. Elana is also a Judaica artist and an avid cook who loves to travel the world and attend arts events such as theater performances, craft shows, concerts, and museum exhibitions, and she enjoys spending time with friends and family while celebrating Shabbat and holidays in the community.
