Rodeph Sholom School Hosts Second Annual Back to School Event, Celebrate RSS!
On September 29th, Rodeph Sholom School welcomed roughly 300 current parents to the start of the 2015-2016 academic year at its second annual Back to School event, Celebrate RSS!
New parents were introduced to more seasoned members of the RSS community, Head of School Jerry Katz spoke about his hopes for the upcoming school year, and food, fun and fanfare were had by all.
The highlight of this year’s “Celebrate RSS!” was a screening of the Class of 2015’s graduation video - a retrospective from last year’s 8th Graders about all things Rodeph Sholom School, and why their education at RSS helped them become who they are today. A moving piece, it was met with much applause - and a few tears! - from parents and teachers alike. If you couldn’t join us, please watch the video below and take part in celebrating RSS with us.
“I am so proud of the class of 2015 and everything they’ve accomplished,” said Louie Glaser, Director of Alumni Relations. “Watching their video at Celebrate RSS highlighted their unique qualities as a class. It proved to the parents, faculty and staff that the RSS mission of educating and creating good, intelligent kids to send out into the world is achievable,” he said.
Celebrate RSS! is Rodeph Sholom School’s way of thanking our families and donors - and celebrating our faculty and staff. With over 500 gifts received last year, the RSS Annual Fund helps our teachers stay at the top of their craft; 88% of faculty participated in professional development courses last year, and even more are expressing interest this year already.
RSS is proud to receive an overwhelming amount of community participation in the RSS Annual Fund; at 98%, RSS has one of the highest independent school giving rates in the nation.
“Celebrate RSS!”, now in its second year, represents the strong connection between individual generosity and the impact that it has on faculty and the professional work that they do, both in and out of the classroom,” said Mandy Wynn, Director of Development.
“The Annual Fund also allows RSS to increase our Financial Aid budget, and it’s wonderful to celebrate this fact as a community, where we see everyone - teachers and parents, committed to making RSS a diverse classroom experience - come together for a night of fun,” she said.
