Position: Development Associate
Reports to: Director of Development
Schedule: Full time

Job Overview:
The Rodeph Sholom School is seeking candidates for the position of Development Associate to provide administrative support for the advancement team with particular focus on the annual fund and donor relations. The Development Associate will report to the Director of Development and will support the department's work in three primary areas: annual fund, donor relations, and the school’s upcoming 50th anniversary celebration. An integral member of the advancement team, the Development Associate will work collaboratively with other members of the advancement team and the communications team as well as other faculty and staff of RSS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in recruiting and supporting parent, grandparent and alumni volunteers, including but not limited to preparing call lists and tracking prospect and donor responses from follow-up calls, emails, and notes.
  • Prepare materials for meetings and donors including reports, proposals, briefing documents, written correspondence, and stewardship documents.
  • Prepare solicitation materials including e-blasts and letters using mail merge to customize all appeals.
  • Generate timely and accurate gift acknowledgment letters, tax receipts and pledge letters.
  • Maintain accurate campaign records in our database and campaign spreadsheets.
  • Participate in the creation of the Annual Report.
  • Perform ongoing grant management, reporting, and stewardship of existing donors.
  • Manage all logistics of Development Committee meetings including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, ordering food, etc.
  • Assist with planning and execution of Development Office events; including preparing and sending electronic and print invitations, tracking RSVP lists, printing name tags and sign-in sheets, as well as event set-up, clean-up, and follow-up.
  • Process invoices and check requests, track budgets, create expense reports.
  • Schedule meetings on behalf of the Director of Development with donors, and oversee development office calendars.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required; duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the discretion of the Director of Development.

  • A bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of professional experience, preferably in non-profit/educational fundraising.
  • Appreciation for the mission of Rodeph Sholom School and knowledge of independent schools.
  • Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or comparable fund-raising database.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google Apps (Sheets, Docs, Drive)
  • Effective communication skills, in person, in writing, and by phone.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively and make an impact in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
