Director of Summer Camp and After School Programs

Full-time position to begin June 15th, 2022 

Rodeph Sholom School is seeking a creative, collaborative, organized, and hands-on Director of Summer Camp and After School Programs. Our next Director of Summer Camp and After School Programs will be a visionary leader who plans and oversees all after school programs and the Rodeph Sholom School Day Camp. 

The Director of Summer Camp and After School Programs reports to the Head of the Elementary Division with support from other Senior Leadership Team members. The Director of Summer Camp and After School Programs will be responsible for the hiring and supervision of Day Camp counselors and staff as well as the After School Program vendors and in-house faculty members. 

The ideal candidate for this role is an educator with experience in schools and camps with the vision to develop creative programming and the organizational skills to manage the details of a complex suite of programs. The ideal candidate also appreciates the joys of working in an independent Reform Jewish Day School environment, is a team player, and has the drive, ability, and creativity to implement change. 

Camp Director Responsibilities: 

  • Developing a program to support Rodeph Sholom School’s mission and build on its rich academic programming and commitment to developing purpose-driven leaders; Recruiting, hiring, training, and supporting all counselors and administrative staff; Creating and executing a budget for Camp; 
  • Marketing the Rodeph Sholom School Day Camp to internal and external families; Maintaining systems to execute daily operations of the camp; 
  • Representing the Camp at various fairs and attending professional development opportunities as they arise;
  • Collaborate with the school’s Enrollment Office to recruit new families for the school in the fall. 

After School Director Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and run a program to support Rodeph Sholom School’s mission, building on its rich academic programming and commitment to developing purpose-driven leaders; Recruiting, hiring, and training of in-house staff; 
  • Recruiting and onboarding external vendors to run Enrichment Programs; Creating and executing a budget for After School Programs; 
  • Collaborating with teachers and Division Heads to ensure continuity of core programmatic priorities; 
  • Maintaining systems to execute daily operations of the After School Programs; Communicating regularly with parents to best support their needs and their children’s needs; 
  • Assessing and reporting regularly on program performance through observation and evaluation. 

Qualifications: 

  • Candidates must hold a BA or BS in a related field. A master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have experience with extra-curricular programming and/or summer camp for children in Nursery through Fourth Grade. 
  • Classroom teaching experience is preferred. 
  • Candidates must be organized, self-motivated and able to navigate multiple constituencies and complex schedules.

Compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive benefits package. The salary range for the position is $80,000-$110,000 depending on experience.
